SERIES: Installation 4: Cracking the Stereotypes
Title: Peer Competition
Description:

Installation 4 addresses the issue of poverty from a social perspective and addresses a common stereotype that the poor are less deserving because they are lazy or possess a lack of personal motivation required to reach individual success.

This painting questions the resources that are available to a child and how that affects lifelong opportunities for upward socio-economic mobility.

The painting questions the juxtaposition of the dependency of a child and the independence required from that same child in adult life. It presents one of the most challenging obstacles of all…how to later be someone that you do not know how to be. If a child is not provided appropriate healthcare, safety and security, proper shelter and nutrition, constructive role models and effective communication skills, than how is that child able to reach their full potential and be competitive to their peers.
